- Changes
- High-altitude interceptor with the Ha-140 (licence DB 605), more armour and a fuselage 220 mm longer; after stability problems with a 10 % larger wing the production Ki-61-II-Kai reverted to the Ki-61-I-Tei wing. IIa: two 12.7 mm in the wings and two 20 mm in the fuselage; IIb: four 20 mm. The Ha-140 was never reliable; after the Akashi engine works were bombed on 19 January 1945, 275 engineless airframes were completed as the Ki-100.
