- Ha-40 (licence DB 601) in engine bearers built into the forward fuselage, two synchronised Ho-103 above the engine, self-sealing tanks (165 L behind the pilot, 190 L in each wing), armoured windscreen and 13 mm plate behind the pilot; one gun bay in each wing. Production from August 1942, official adoption as the Type 3 Fighter in 1943.
